November 14, 2009
Last Wednesday was the Tracy Camera Club meeting. We had the most prints I have ever seen at one meeting—we reviewed over 70 pictures! The subject of the month for November was “People”, which hasn’t been a topic since I’ve been in the club. There were many really great entries and we had a great meeting. I entered 8 photos into the competition and learned tonight that the image above earned print of the month. There was actually a three-way tie for print of the month, and my photo was one of the three. Several other photos where category winners as well.

During the meeting, I setup a demonstration of how to capture water droplets. I used my off-camera strobe, a couple of light stands, and a small table to capture images. I think the demonstration went really well, but I wish I had reviewed what I was going to say ahead of time. I ended up explaining everything but my presentation might have seemed a little disjointed.

Today when shooting a family in the park I ran into someone who told me that he just sold his camera. He said over the last few years he had only taken about 4 pictures with it, so he gave it up. I couldn’t imagine. I took more pictures today than he had in four years. Crazy.  THEN he told me that just 4 or 5 years ago, he was the Tracy Camera Club president. I can’t imagine how you go from president to never touching a camera again. Wow.
I had a fun time in the park capturing a lovely family. They had two boys who certainly had their own minds, but a large part of this business is learning how to deal with people. I have yet to review the photos but hope we got some great images. I will post them after editing!
Have a great week!Geoff
